Meet The Board of Directors

Travis is back on the Board of Directors once again. He's looking forward to a fun and successful year at the club. Travis is a former Provincial Junior Champion, CIS Silver Medalist, and a National Club Championship Silver Medalist. In the off-season, Travis has recently taken up golf, so you can hear him swearing after a missed shot on the course AND on the ice!

Ken is returning for his fourth year as the board secretary  He is happy to volunteer and is committed to ensuring the Sydney Curling Club has a vibrant and sustainable future. On the ice, he finds he is more drawn to the competitive aspects of the game. During the summer, Ken is the skipper of the highly successful Kookaloo Sailing Team! :)

This will be Thomas' 5th year on the board and thrid as Treasurer. He enjoys both the competitive and fun sides of curling! Often you will find he hanging out after his games enjoying a cold Breton with his team, competitors and new friends from the club. His long term goal is to make a Brier final but he's quite a ways away from that!

Currently the Golf Professional at The Lakes Resort. Wes moved his family here in 2021 and joined the Sydney Curling Club months later. Wes is currently a Guinness World Record Holder! He enjoys playing all types of sports and spending time with his family! Wes loves the Jay's, Leafs, food and Traveling.

Genevieve started curling in the 2020-2021 season and this is her fourth year on the Board of Directors. Genevieve is looking forward to continue to  grow relationships between the club and the local business community this season!

Tyler started curling in 2017 on Monday nights. Over time he progressed to play on Tuesdays and Thursdays either in a lead or 2nd position. Originally from Sydney Mines, he moved to Sydney in 2016 and have been living here ever since. He is a proud owner of two loveable beagles and a sassy tortie cat. Some of his other interests are hiking, music, and figuring out where to travel to next! If you see him at the club, don’t be shy and say hi!

Peter Xidos joined the Sydney Curling Club Board as Match Director last season. He is excited to continue to enhance the club’s tournament structure and streamline match operations, ensuring that each event is not only competitive but also enjoyable for everyone involved. As he settles into his position, Peter looks forward to continue collaborating with fellow board members to grow the sport and create memorable experiences for all.

Sebastien began curling when he was 6 and a half, in grade 2. He fell in love with the sport and never wanted to leave! Since the age of 12, he has competed in various provincial tournaments and cash spiels, either in Sydney or elsewhere in the province. If he can play... he will! In fact, he was on the ice for 31 straight days a few seasons ago! This may or may not have been a mistake... He is happy to be helping out on the board this year and is always available to help out at the club, whether it be on or off the ice!

Brent started curling as a senior after retiring from firefighting. He took an instant love for the sport and the great welcoming people he met at the Sydney Curling Club.

This is Stephen's third year on the Board of Directors.

Liz joined the Sydney Curling Club during the 2019-2020 season and will be curling for her 6th year this season. This is her fifth year on the Board of Directors. Off the ice, Liz enjoys spin classes and going to Friday night Downtown Trivia at SCC. If you are interested in volunteering at SCC Bar, please see Liz at the club!

This is Todd's second year on the board as one of the Bar Directors, the all important job of keeping the bar stocked. The next few seasons will be exciting ones for the Sydney Curling Club and he is happy to be a part of it. Cheers!
