Meet The Board of Directors

President
Travis Stone
Years Curled: 26
This is Travis' final year on the Board of Directors. He's looking forward to a fun and successful year at the club. Travis is a former Provincial Junior Champion, CIS Silver Medalist, and a National Club Championship Silver Medalist. In the off-season, Travis has recently taken up golf, so you can hear him swearing after a missed shot on the course AND on the ice!

Vice President & Match Co-Director
Ryan Ferguson
Years Curled: 14
Ryan is the league organizer for both the Tuesday Night Team Entry League and the Doubles League. He enjoys both the competitive and social aspect of curling. Ryan hopes to continue the growth of the Sydney Curling Club by hosting more bonspiels and events at the club. Off the ice he enjoys reading and spending time with family & friends.

Secretary
Ken MacLeod
Years Curled: 3.5
Ken is the board secretary (not to be confused with the bored secretary you may have seen on tv). To date, he is enjoying his time spent volunteering with the other members of the executive. He feels he's well suited for the role of secretary as he can type over 100 words per minute (although it is considerably slower if you need the words to be spelled correctly). As for curling experience, he feels lucky to have already accomplished so much in his young career. He doesn’t think there is a curler in the building he hasn’t lost to! Good curling everyone! He is looking forward to having fun with you all.

Treasurer
Michael Garden
Years Curled: 26
This is Mike's third year on the board as the club treasurer. Originally from Manitoba and have curled most of his life, he is a former Westman Curling Super League Champion, and has been in multiple Manitoba Club Championship Provincials. He has 2 awesome kids that keep him away from the rink more than he would like but he's hoping he can get the oldest to throw her first rocks this year!

Membership Director
Jill MacIsaac
Years Curled: 5
Jill is 27 years old. This is her first year on the board of directors. She's excited to get started this season. Jill has curled for 5 years. She loved everything about the game. She always watched it on TV but never got the courage to try it out until 2017. In her spare time she works full time & enjoys spending time with family & friends.

Match Co-Director
Shane Langille
Years Curled: 14
Shane loves the sport and how it brings people together. He played competitively in juniors for many years and is hoping to continue to curl in a competitive environment. He hopes to continue work with the members and the board to make this season great.

Junior Director
Jenna MacNeil

Publicity Director
Genevieve Andrea
Years Curled: 2
Genevieve started curling in the 2020-2021 season and this is her first year on the Board of Directors. She is also a volunteer bartender and the 2021-2022 Bartender of the Year! Off the ice, she can often be found with the Colbourne Cares Community Food Truck. Genevieve is looking forward to growing relationships between the club and the local business community.

House Director
Ian MacInnis
Years Curled: 3
Ian decided to join curling after Sydney hosted the 2019 Scotties. He enjoys the social, fun and competitive part of the sport. He is a 3 time MacLeod Lorway Thursday night curling champion. During the summer Ian participates in sailboat racing and is part of the successful Kookaloo Sailing team.

Ice Director
Thomas Xidos
Years Curled: 3
This will be Thomas' 3rd year on the board as the Ice Director. He enjoys both the competitive and fun sides of curling! Often you will find he hanging out after his games enjoying a cold Breton with his team, competitors and new friends from the club. His long term goal is to make a Brier final but he's quite a ways away from that!

Bar Director (Rentals)
Cynthia Boutilier

Bar Director (Staffing)
Lisa MacDonald
Years Curled: 3
Lisa lives in Sydney very close to the club with her husband Aaron and 2 dogs, Emery and Kane. She works at TD Canada Trust as a Financial Advisor and joined curling in the 2019-2020 season as a way to stay active during the long winter months. She curled on Monday and Wednesday nights to start and also volunteered as a bartender the past 3 seasons. This is my 4th year curling and she is going to be curling Tuesday and Wednesday nights, playing in both the ladies league and the new doubles league on Wednesday nights. Last year she became the league organizer for the clubs all female league. This league had not existed in the club in many years and is back this season. She looks forward to a lot of fun and laughs curling with the ladies on Wednesday nights again this year. Lisa is new to the board of directors for the 2022-2023 season. This year she is responsible for scheduling volunteer bartenders. If you have any questions about the club, ladies league or are interested in bartending please chat with her.

Bar Director (Inventory)
Liz Dieltgens
Years Curled: 3
Liz joined the Sydney Curling Club during the 2019-2020 season. This her second year on the Board of Directors. She is also the league organizer for Monday Night Curling and a volunteer bartender. Off the ice, she enjoys yoga and spin classes, and going to Friday night Downtown Trivia.
