THE
135th
ANNUAL ANNIVERSARY TICKET DRAW
The
Campaign Is Underway – NOW!!!!!!
Hi all. I’ll
admit to two things. First, I am a horrible salesman. Secondly, I am
– as the title suggests, blatantly and shamelessly appealing to you
to buy something. At the same time, I’m hoping you’ll consider
selling something as well. That ‘something’ is our annual
Anniversary Ticket Draw.
Every year, the
Club has one MAJOR fund raising effort. We are beginning that
campaign right now. The funds earned through this Draw support the
daily operations of our Club. As I’m sure you can appreciate, these
costs are always increasing. Our fuel costs alone this year have seen
a dramatic increase. Our Board has – and continues – to work hard
to manage every dollar of income. However, as we do not have a large
membership, we have had to become quite creative in seeking out
additional sources of financial support.
The club is aging
and requires constant maintenance. The new carpeting in our lounge
area and the painting of our exterior façade are but two of the
upgrades that were necessary this year in order for us to continue to
provide a congenial and inviting atmosphere for our members. These
types of upgrades are also essential if we want to maximize our
appeal to our renters – a MAJOR source of income for us.
Then there is the
unforeseen. The loss of our ice shed dehumidifier has required some
scrambling on the Board’s part. A replacement is on order and will
hopefully be installed in the next 2-3 weeks. This is a very
expensive piece of equipment. To this point, we have raised about 60%
of the funding required and are seeking out further assistance for
the rest.
Thus, our
Anniversary Ticket Draw is an essential component of our funding. On
this basis alone, I am appealing to you to support our fund raising
effort. The tickets sell for $50.00 each. Cash prizes will be
awarded. First prize is $5000.00. The remaining prizes are all listed
on the ticket itself. The tickets are available at the Bar at the
Club.
This year, that
draw will be held on May 26th
at the Curling Club. The local dance band, Kintyre, will be
performing. I spent New Year’s Eve listening and dancing (a sight
to behold for sure!!!) to their music. It was a wonderful evening.
So, if can, join us for the dance, the Draw and the fun!
We are
appealing to all members to BUY and SELL some of these tickets.
If each of us bought one ticket and sold two others, we could all
but sell out the 600 available tickets. And that is our goal!!! So
please, the Board is appealing to the club membership to get behind
us in this fund raising effort, so that we can continue to provide a
quality curling product to the Club and to the community.
